Synopsis

Kabir Singh (2019) is an Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film written and directed by Sandeep Vanga. It is a remake of his own Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017). Jointly produced by Cine1 Studios and T-Series, the film stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani.

In this film, Shahid Kapoor plays Kabir Singh, a brilliant yet impulsive surgeon, who falls into a self-destruction path when his girlfriend is forced to marry another person.

Kiara Advani plays the female lead. The role was initially offered to Tara Sutaria. Sandeep Vanga praised Kiara Advani and said that she epitomizes the female character in the film. Shahid Kapoor will play the lead role.

Principal photography began in October 2018 and ended in March 2019. The film was theatrically released in India on 21 June 2019 and received mixed reviews, with criticism for glamorizing misogyny and toxic masculinity, though Kapoor’s performance was praised. It grossed over ₹379 crores, becoming the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019.
