In Avengers: Infinity War we discover that his home planet fell due to an ecological disaster. But his origin story is still not entirely clear, so in Eternals, it could be revealed that he was one of the Eternals. Another alternative is for him to only appear in a cameo as the idealistic conqueror he was, as Eternals will span thousands of years.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe had several villains during the more than twenty films known as the Infinity Saga, but one stood out from all of them. The evil alien tyrant first appeared in the post-credits scene of The Avengers. Then we briefly saw him again in Guardians of the Galaxy. Finally had a major role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
At the end of the fourth installment of The Avengers. The villain was reduced to dust by the power of the Infinity Stones, and it doesn’t seem like there are many reasons to bring him back. There is a movie where it is very likely that we will see him again: Eternals. In the comics, Thanos did not belong to a race called “Titans” as in the film version but was a member of the Eternals, the super-powerful race created by the Celestials.
According to Jim Starlin, creator of Thanos, the villain could be in Eternals. These were his statements on ComicBook’s Phase Zero podcast: “I think they will. They made a ton of money and I think I’ve heard some rumors. He will come back on different things. I think the first thing I heard confirmed from Marvel Studios is that he will at least appear as a guest within the Eternals. Then he will be close”.
This is good news for fans who love Thanos, as not only will he be in Eternals. But we will see him again in other future installments of the franchise, although how and when he will be is still a mystery.
